KB-000466: Do the Impatica products work with BlackBerry device software 6 and the Torch 9800 device?

Yes, most of the current Impatica software works with the BlackBerry Torch 9800 running device software 6. Here are the details and known issues by product:

1.       Impatica viaDock – v1.1.5: This software runs on your PC and allows you to use and control your BlackBerry from your PC.

a.       Known Issue: There is a known issue when running the software on Windows 7. The touch events for the Storm and Torch devices are not captured.

                                                               i.      Work Around: The current work around for this is to use the software as it is normally used with non-touch BlackBerry devices; i.e.  Navigate using the keyboard arrows, “Menu” and “Select” keys, etc.

b.      The touch events are captured when running on Windows XP and Vista.

2.       Impatica Connector – v1.0.34:  This software runs on the BlackBerry device and permits screen projection via the ShowMate or through the viaDock software. Impatica Connector runs fine with OS 6 but does have some known issues:

a.       Known Issue #1: The touch events for Storm and Torch devices are not captured when connected to viaDock.

                                                               i.      Work Around: The current work around for this is to use the software as it is normally used with non-touch BlackBerry devices; i.e.  Navigate using the keyboard arrows, “Menu” and “Select” keys, etc.

b.      The touch events are captured when running on Windows XP and Vista.

c.       The fact that touch events are not captured is not relevant when connecting to a ShowMate. With the ShowMate, Impatica Connector is used to project the screen contents but not to interact with that content.

d.      Known Issue #2:  The screen freezes when you change orientation of the screen while connected to viaDock.

                                                               i.      Work Around: The current work around solutions for this are:

1.       You can disconnect, change orientation and then reconnect; or

2.       You can ensure you are using the desired orientation before you connect.

3.       Impatica Presentation Viewer - v2.1.0: This software allows users to store impaticized PowerPoint presentations on their BlackBerry and then to either view them locally or project them to an audience through the ShowMate hardware.

a.       Known Issue: Currently, the menu cannot be launched on the Torch, OS 6. We are working on and expect to release a solution soon.

                                                               i.      There is no known work around for this issue.

4.       Impatica ShowMate - v2.4.0: This firmware is installed on the Impatica ShowMate hardware.

a.       Known Issue: Due to item 3a above, does not yet work for PowerPoint projection.

                                                               i.      There is no known work around for this issue.

b.      Screen Projection through the ShowMate functions correctly.
