KB-000456: When using viaDock the response time is terrible. It takes 2-4 seconds for each letter to appear with both a USB and Bluetooth connection. Am I doing something wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong but it does appear that something went wrong during the installation of the handheld software on your BlackBerry. The response time should be very close to immediate when typing through a USB connection and only slightly delayed when using Bluetooth. Given that you are experiencing delays far in excess to this, it is clear that something is not correct with your installation.

Please follow these exact steps in order to get viaDock and Impatica Connector working correctly in your environment:

1.      Stop projecting with Impatica Connector by clicking on the Impatica Connector icon and selecting “OK” when asked “Stop Screen Projection”.
NOTE: This will stop the application from running. Simply disconnecting the USB cable from the PC does not stop the application from running in the background.

2.      Disconnect any USB cables (if you are using USB) from the BlackBerry. If you are using Bluetooth, the connection will be broken by stopping the projection in step 1.

3.      Once the BlackBerry is finished rebooting, please go to:

a.       Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications  or Options -> Applications in newer devices

b.      Scroll down to Impatica Connector v1.0.XX (1.0.34 currently) so that it is highlighted.

c.       Click the menu button

d.      Select “Delete” from the menu

e.       Once the deletion is complete, remove the battery from the BlackBerry

f.       Let it sit for 30 seconds with the battery out

g.      Replace the battery and wait for the device to reboot

h.      Go to www.impatica.com/bb and install the Impatica Connector software Over-The-Air (OTA) using the JAD link in the bottom section of the page. (If you get a link for a zip when clicking on the jad link, zoom in closer on the page and then click the jad link.)

i.        Test the functionality again.

If that fails to get you a smooth running version of the application, please provide Impatica Support the following environment information:

Windows OS version and Service Pack:

In addition, could you clear your BlackBerry Event Log, connect to Impatica viaDock and repeat the steps to cause the problem and then send me the log contents?
