KB-000428: I have uninstalled an older version (prior to version 4) of Impatica for PowerPoint but it appears that it did not uninstall completely. When I try to install the latest version I get an error saying that I have to uninstall the previous version before installing the new version. How do I get around this issue?

This article only applies to versions of Impatica for PowerPoint prior to version 4. With version 4 we switched from an InstallShield to a NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) installer.

What is probably happening is that the InstallShield uninstaller package (was used in version 3 and earlier) is not removing the registry key in the Registry Editor. You will have to delete it manually.

Please follow these instructions on how to do this:

Start regedit

    1. Click on your Windows "Start" button
    2. Select "Run" from the menu
    3. Type "regedit" in the "Open" space provided in the "Run" dialog box
    4. Within the resulting Registry Editor window navigate to the following key and delete it:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ {BAC1-A2E1-2C76-4C6A-9DF0-84428656C45B}

      I
      f it is not there look for:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{FFC4F4B8-82D2-4E7F-AE10-37CD67293DCD}

    5. If you still see them, delete the old Impatica for PowerPoint icon from your desktop and the “C:\Program Files\Impatica for PowerPoint” folder.
