KB-000381: How do I check my operating system version on a Mac?

You can find your operating system version through the "About This Mac" menu item.

To locate this menu item click on the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner of your desktop and then click on the "About This Mac" menu item:


and the "About This Mac" dialog box will launch.



Once you have found your Mac OS version, please consult this table to determine the code name for your build (e.g. Snow Leopard, Tiger, etc.):
